Just kidding about the cold, harsh winter part…I live in California. Buuuuuut my next trip will be Belize (with a day in Guatemala) this coming December-January!

Monkeying around in Monkey River
Although it most certainly isn’t Antarctica, Belize will still be a whole new experience as the majority of the trip will be more on the relaxing side compared to my other trips. Yes, of course there will still be things like crazy hikes and scuba diving, but the majority of the trip will focus on relaxation and exploration (animals, nature, historical sites, cultural villages, and the inner self).
I am really excited to explore the natural beauty of Belize because between the amazing beaches, the majestic Great Big Blue Hole, wildlife, and a bio-luminescent lagoon, there will be so many crazy and unique experiences that will set this trip apart from all previous trips.

A glowing evening in Anderson’s Lagoon
I will also be taking the boyfriend with me. It will be his very first time outside the country besides a cruise to Mexico. Besides my financial roadblocks mentioned in the previous post, I feel it makes more sense to have his first trip be a place like Belize than Antarctica.

Whale shark!
We all know I love questions like, “Why on Earth would you go there and/or do that?” The fact that this is his first international experience doesn’t mean I’m going to make it easy on him in regards to the crazy foods and experiences. Haha! Sorry babe, I know you’re reading this. 😉 Some activities I have been looking into include: kayaking, cave tubing, hiking, visiting ancient Mayan ruins and sacrificial sites, snorkeling with nurse sharks and whale sharks, swimming in a bio-luminescent lagoon, etc. As far as food goes, it all looks delicious! Tamales!! I have been reading that they eat game meat such as iguana and deer, so I will definitely be on the lookout for that! Cow foot stew is another exotic food that you don’t really see in the States, so that will have to be tested out too!

Cave of the Crystal Maiden, Actun Tunichil Muknal
I am really excited, as I always am with travel. Ancient history + beautiful nature + rich culture = awesome! I will definitely be bringing my GoPro, and may also have another camera besides my phone as well. 🙂
As always, stay tuned!
The trip sounds awesome. Hope you have fun!
