Now that I am back from my train trip and have returned to semi-regular life, it is time to get things in order for my next trip: South Africa! I know how long I will be there (3.5 weeks), I have compiled the list of what I want to do and where, I know where I will be staying in each city (mainly hostels of course, with a few exceptions of nicer places), and I have what I need for travel insurance (World Nomads), etc. The flights are officially booked! I will even have a seven hour layover in London in each direction, enough time to leave the airport for feeding time.
I will definitely be taking my GoPro with me…which means I need to actually figure out how to use it haha! I have seen countless videos of people skydiving and bungee jumping and scuba diving with the camera faced towards them, and while it’s entertaining to see their reactions, I will be doing things a little differently. I am going to attach and angle the camera in ways so the viewer gets the same perspective that I do. This means viewers will see what I see as I am diving off a bridge (hi Grandma) or engaging in a staring competition with a great white shark (sorry Ashley), or even paddling in wild hippopotamus and crocodile inhabited waters (I am not apologizing for this haha). The activities mentioned above are only a tiny taste of the adrenaline pinching adventures that will occur on this trip. Why the hell would I even want to do such things?!! The very reason people ask that is the very reason why.
As per usual, I will be staying at hostels for the majority of the trip, buuuuuut there are one or two nights that I will be staying at a more luxurious accommodation for the sake of doing so because there are some things in life that you just have to do, regardless of the cost. This is the exact reason I enjoy staying at hostels or couch-surfing though, so that my money can be used elsewhere! This is the time to go to South Africa….the exchange rate currently is freakin’ awesome! It’s just a matter of getting there of course, but what are you waiting for?
South Africa has such a rich history and wide range of cultures and landscapes that vary greatly from one end to the other. Most people seem to just go to Cape Town or Johannesburg, so as you probably know by now, I will be going there and beyond!
This will be continent #6, which makes me one step away from this year’s goal!
Have you been to South Africa? What are your must sees and dos? 🙂
Sounds like a blast, sweetheart!
Luv yu!
