Leaving to head back to Chicago this afternoon. I woke up at 7:30. Whyyyy??? I did actually sleep and I do feel rested, so that’s nice at least. The girls and I talked about getting beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde, but I’ll wait to 9/9:30 when they said they would probably wake up.
People are trusting here. Everyone just leaves their shit out unlocked and what not. Cool! Don’t take that for granted and don’t expect that everywhere, but the India House is awesome! There’s random writing and painting all over the place. A negative thing about Trump in the bathroom haha. I was rearranging everything in my purse last night trying to figure out what to wear, so I’m going to have to take everything out and repack. But I’ll do that after my shower. This is the last real shower I’ll probably have access to until I get home. I’ll see if I can sneak into the shower of the sleeper cars. Oh that might actually work!
I lost another sock. Why????

Wasn’t even my vomit…
The girls are still asleep but I am not going to wait any longer, sorry. I went to Cafe du Monde and omg I felt like I was going to throw up the beignets were so sweet. And also coffee with chicory, which I couldn’t really taste. Everything was still delicious!
I then decided to walk around Decatur Street for a bit. I got some ghost pepper salt and Cajun seasoning. Michael and I are going to do a pepper challenge because we were watching these other guys (check out Goodmythicalmorning on Youtube) do the challenge. We got some practicing and stamina building to do.
Before heading back to the station, I had lunch and stuffed my face with gumbo and seafood nachos!
I am now back on the train, headed up to Chicago! The lady next to me went to go put her name down for dinner reservations and they told her, “Come back later, you’ll be fine.” She went when they told her to come back and they said, “We’re full, come back in two hours.” So no dinner for me. I don’t have any more snacks because I ate them…so this is great. Feeding time… 😦 The quality of the train itself is like the first trains I was on, and nice bathrooms, but the customer service keeps getting worse and worse. Even if this was my first train, I’d be annoyed.
A freight train is in the way so we can’t come into the station in Jackson, Mississippi, but it’s been stuck for a while. There is no information being given out about, but someone mentioned transferring us to a bus? Communication please! Ah ok they said a few minutes.
So due to weather issues, we will be in Jackson until 6:30 at least….which is 45 minutes as of now. We left Jackson at 7:45. I tweeted Amtrak asking for updates since no one in the train was doing so, and apparently a track got washed out so then of course things got backed up and freight trains have the right of way so we have to wait for them.
Ok we are back on the move. Yay! I don’t know what time we’re going to get there now but we were supposed to get there at 9am. My next train isn’t until 3, so hopefully I should be fine. I am not sure what I’m going to do this time in Chicago, but I’m really craving a salad or just something healthy.
The guy behind me is craving a cigarette and said, “I’m about to light up in here.” Go ahead sir…if you do you’re going to get kicked off the train at the very least. There was a cigarette in one of the toilets later. Seriously people??
Ah the conductor said we will arrive at about 11, sooo we are 2 hours behind. That’s not toooo bad. Well only because I still have time, thankfully. Fingers crossed everything goes well for the last two train rides!
I’m currently at 25 states on this trip alone.
